Capitol Action Days

Posted Date: 11/21/2016

Capitol Action Days are part of Missouri NEA’s comprehensive Government Relations plan to promote positive policy for public education. MNEA's Capitol Action Days are each Wednesday of the 2018 legislative session (February through May).

MNEA Board of Directors, working with Government Relation Teams and local presidents, will organize up to two Capitol Action Days for their governance district. A complete schedule of Capitol Action Days can be found below. Our efforts will make more of an impact if members from throughout the governance district attend.

Plan now to make the trip to Jefferson City to attend your Capitol Action Days. Talk to other members about attending, too. If you are not able to attend on the designated days for your governance district, feel free to contact Sandy Smith (sandy.smith@mnea.orgto arrange to attend a different Capitol Action Day. Each Capitol Action Day will start with a briefing at 10 a.m. in House Hearing Room 4, Room B37 to provide you with the most up-to-date information.

Special Notes

Please arrive early to allow extra time.

Parking: The Madison Street Parking Garage (across from the Governor’s Mansion and two blocks from the Capitol) is available for parking.

Entrance: Capitol renovations began recently and will last for the remainder of the session and beyond. The Capitol grounds are largely fenced off, and visitors will need to go around the fenced-in area on the south side of the Capitol and then proceed to the security checkpoint inside the "carriage" entrance under the Grand Staircase.

All Capitol visitors are now required to go through security checkpoints, including metal detectors and inspection of items.
