Students Win as Educator-Endorsed Candidates Triumph Across Missouri

Union-endorsed candidates achieve an 83 percent success rate in Missouri school board elections.

JEFFERSON CITY, MO – The Missouri National Education Association (MNEA) extends its appreciation and thanks to all the school board candidates across the state who demonstrated their commitment to public education and the well-being of our students by participating in this crucial democratic process. An impressive 83% of candidates endorsed by local affiliates of the Missouri NEA were elected to their local school boards. This outcome underscores the pivotal role that public school educators play in championing candidates whose priorities align with parents, students, teachers, and staff.

Phil Murray, president of the Missouri National Education Association, commented on the results, saying, "The success of these candidates speaks volumes about the trust our communities have in the recommendation of public-school educators. It also showcases the effective collaboration and hard work between these candidates and the Missouri NEA members who supported them. Their victories underscore a shared commitment to ensuring our public schools have the resources to help every child achieve their best."

The remarkable success of union-endorsed candidates highlights public school educators' trusted position within the community and the broad support of neighborhood public schools. "This outcome confirms that voters and parents place significant trust in the recommendations of public-school educators," Murray noted.

MNEA and its local affiliates remain committed to supporting initiatives and individuals working to ensure every student, regardless of zip code, attends a great public school.
