Springfield school resource officers and dispatchers say 'YES' to unionize

On Nov. 16, 2022, school resource officers and dispatches in Springfield, MO voted to unionize. The union victory was carried by 86 percent of the vote.

They will unite with the 32,000-member-strong Missouri National Education Association and Springfield NEA.

“It will have a direct effect on our school resource officers’ safety as well as our students’ safety,” Missouri NEA UniServ Director Melissa Albright. “They are the ones out in our schools working directly with our children, and they know the resources that they need. And a way of collective bargaining is to reach a mutual agreement to get those resources that will directly affect our children.”
