2026 TOY Finalists: Five MNEA members receive recognition

The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education announces the final stage in the 2026 Missouri Teacher of the Year competition, and five of the seven finalists are proud members of the Missouri National Education Association.

We know that MNEA members are the best of the best, but this is proof!

From a field of more than 30 Regional Teachers of the Year, the selection has been narrowed to seven excellent educators. The 2026 Missouri Teacher of the Year finalists embody dedication, creativity, and unwavering commitment to excellence in the classroom. Their work reflects the strength of Missouri’s teaching profession and the power of educators to inspire and transform their students' lives.

Finalists will be interviewed by a panel of experts selected by DESE on September 16. They have already been evaluated for their contributions to student learning, leadership in their schools, and impact within their communities. Now, they must shine.

Missouri’s Teacher of the Year competition celebrates the best and brightest educators who go above and beyond for their students. The process highlights not only the excellence of individual teachers but also the importance of teaching as a profession that drives student success and strengthens public education.

By recognizing these outstanding professionals, DESE underscores the importance of investing in educators whose daily work uplifts students, schools, and communities across the state.
