Columbia MNEA Charitable Fund Contribution Form
The Columbia Missouri National Education Association (CMNEA) represents more than six hundred Columbia Public School employees who support great public schools in many ways. One such area of support is focused on investing in CPS graduates pursuing post-secondary education or career/technical training. CMNEA annually awards the following scholarships to selected CPS seniors.
CMNEA COMOEd Scholarships
CMNEA is an active partner in the Columbia Public Schools Homegrown Teacher Advisory group that facilitates the COMOEd Future Teacher Program. COMOEd future teachers are CPS students who assist in summer school classes, take career center education courses, and pursue education programs after high school, with the expectation that, upon graduating, they return to CPS to teach. One scholarship is awarded to a selected COMOEd student at each of the CPS comprehensive high schools (Battle, Hickman, and Rock Bridge) who plan to pursue a degree in education.
Arden Boyer-Stevens Columbia Area Career Center Scholarship
The Dr. Arden Boyer-Stephens scholarship is named for and honors the dedication and service of Dr. Boyer-Stevens who worked at the Columbia Area Career Center for twenty-three years in a variety of positions, including six years as the CACC Director. This scholarship is awarded to a student pursuing a degree from an accredited college in an area related to his/her CACC program of study.
CMNEA Douglass High School Scholarship
Frederick Douglass High School offers an alternative setting for at-risk students. This alternative setting is structured to assist students toward their goal of high school completion and to design a productive post-secondary plan. The CMNEA Douglass High School scholarship is awarded to a Douglass High School senior who is transitioning to a post-secondary academic or career/technical program.
