National Board Jump Start Training


This workshop is for first-time, returning, and advanced candidates who plan to submit any components of National Board Certification in the 2023-2024 school year. Find out more about National Board Certification at www.nbpts.orgFirst-time National Board Jump Start participants must attend Foundations I. If you are just starting the National Board process, we recommend you attend all sessions this year. Returning participants choose which days to attend, depending on where they are in the certification process. Some school districts use Title II, Professional Development Committee, or other district funds to pay for National Board Jump Start registration.

Hotel Reservations
Accommodations are not included in the registration fee for Jump Start to NBC. You may book hotel rooms at the Marriott Courtyard in Jefferson City under the Missouri NEA block of rooms for a reduced rate of $145 per night plus taxes and fees. The last day to book your room is June 17.

National Board Jump Start Registration

Deadline to register: July 2
It may close earlier if the session fills before the deadline. A minimum number of registrations is required.

Member Fee: $55 per day or $165 for all sessions
Non-Member Fee: $135 per day or $405 for all sessions 

The registration fee for the in-person seminar includes lunch and morning coffee. 

NEA Jump Start is an intensive summer seminar designed by trainers who have worked with thousands of successful candidates for National Board Certification, including teachers, librarians, school counselors, and instructional coaches.

This comprehensive in-person seminar provides National Board candidates important information about the certification process, time to examine component and assessment center requirements, the opportunity to plan how to meet requirements, and time to collaborate, gather resources and information needed to pursue certification— all in a supportive, constructive, and collegial environment. All 2023-2024 candidates are welcome- first-time candidates, returning candidates, and advanced candidates.

Component 1: Wed., July 19, 1-4 p.m.

If you are just starting the National Board Certification process, you need to attend all sessions. Each session includes tips that apply to other components as well. Previous Jump Start participants may choose their days. All first-time Jump Start attendees must attend Foundations 1.
