How to Become a Member

Teachers, Education Support & Higher Education Professionals

Why Join Missouri NEA? (download brochure)

MNEA membership is open to all education employees who work in pre K-12 public education, including charter schools and in public or private higher education institutions. The dues for active education employees in Missouri are based on the average teacher salary in the district where you work; dues for higher education members are based on the Missouri average teacher salary. Missouri NEA offers reduced dues for new members and early enrollments incentives. To become a member, contact the MNEA regional office that serves your area for your MNEA/NEA dues rate as a new member and your local association dues rate. Then, print, complete and mail the membership form to the MNEA regional office that serves your area.

Retired from education

Former teachers and other education employees who have retired from active education employment are encouraged to join MNEA as Retired members to stay connected and maintain benefits. • Continue your employment liability insurance coverage if you decide to substitute at school (up to 550 hours).
  • Stay connected with fellow NEA colleagues and programs across the state and nation.
  • Receive two 30-minute sessions and a 30 percent discount on legal assistance on personal issues such as wills and estate planning, real estate, consumer protection, domestic relations and traffic violations.
  • Access group discounts and valuable benefits on insurance (auto, home, life, dental, long-term care and Medicare supplements), loans, credit cards, travel and hotels, savings and investments, wireless phone plans, local and nationwide dining and shopping opportunities, and on a host of everyday purchases and services!

Share your story

Even though we are not at school supporting Missouri students, members continue to help every day during this crisis. MNEA wants to share your stories as we struggle through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

We are hearing about members who are continuing to care for their students by

  • volunteering at school district Grab & Go meal distribution centers and food drives
  • providing child care for essential medical staff
  • shopping for the elderly so they don’t have to leave the safety of their homes

Your stories help show that educators don’t stop caring. Please send your stories with pictures to MNEA at, so we can share them. You can post to social media, making sure you tag @MissouriNEA and use the hashtags  #MNEAheroes and  #MNEAprotects.
