The largest voice of faculty and staff in Missouri

Missouri NEA is an affiliate of the National Education Association. NEA is the largest college and university faculty and staff organization in the United States, representing more than 115,000 higher education personnel. MNEA is the leading voice for education and educators in Missouri, representing hundreds of Missouri’s higher education professionals.

Missouri NEA helps our members:

  • Supplement and enhance collegial governance on campus
  • Improve compensation and economic security
  • Exercise due process rights through grievance and arbitration processes
  • Protect academic freedom
  • Lobby the legislature on higher education issues
  • Obtain legal assistance
  • Assure quality of the profession
  • Establish strong local associations

Higher Education Membership Soars

Missouri NEA’s most rapidly growing membership segment, higher education staff members are organizing membership at impressive rates.

“Faculty across the state are dissatisfied with their lack of meaningful participation in academic governance,” says Steve McLuckie, MNEA director of field services and organizing. “Collective bargaining gives them the legal and organizational capacity to gain a substantial role in the decision-making process. The result will be a better work environment for faculty and an improved education for their students. ”

MNEA now boasts seven local affiliates in higher education institutions. Not only is membership booming in this group, but also the majority of the higher education local affiliates have exclusive representation status.
