MNEA Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Service

Help the MNEA Human Rights Committee give the gift of reading

MNEA's Human Rights Committee honors and celebrates the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by doing a service project each year. This year, the committee's service is guided by the theme of the 2020 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Poster-Essay Contest.  “Fulfilling Dr. King’s Dream: Reading Leads to Your Dreams.”

Let’s fulfill Dr. King’s dream and support the purchase of books for students. Please make a one-time or recurring donation to the HOPE Fund using a credit card with the online form or mail your check with this form to MNEA HQ. Be sure to select “Special circumstance charitable contribution to be used for” and enter “MLK Service Project” in the “Person or Special Event or Cause” box.

The books will be distributed at the spring R.A.

Share your story

Even though we are not at school supporting Missouri students, members continue to help every day during this crisis. MNEA wants to share your stories as we struggle through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

We are hearing about members who are continuing to care for their students by

  • volunteering at school district Grab & Go meal distribution centers and food drives
  • providing child care for essential medical staff
  • shopping for the elderly so they don’t have to leave the safety of their homes

Your stories help show that educators don’t stop caring. Please send your stories with pictures to MNEA at, so we can share them. You can post to social media, making sure you tag @MissouriNEA and use the hashtags  #MNEAheroes and  #MNEAprotects.
