It is more important than ever to know about the reforms being considered that impact your students, school, paycheck and working conditions. At MNEA’s Political Academy you will learn how you can become the most effective advocate for students, fellow educators, and how you can push back on special interest attacks at the local, state, and federal level.

Political Academy is a one-day training that will help members of all skill levels become better advocates in their communities. Each training will include learning how best to communicate a message, recruiting volunteers, and learning about how to use data to improve your local’s advocacy efforts.

MNEA is hosting regional Political Academies in the St. Louis (July 18) and Kansas City (July 15) areas to train educators to be effective advocates for students and strong public schools.

Share your story

Even though we are not at school supporting Missouri students, members continue to help every day during this crisis. MNEA wants to share your stories as we struggle through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

We are hearing about members who are continuing to care for their students by

  • volunteering at school district Grab & Go meal distribution centers and food drives
  • providing child care for essential medical staff
  • shopping for the elderly so they don’t have to leave the safety of their homes

Your stories help show that educators don’t stop caring. Please send your stories with pictures to MNEA at coronavirus@mnea.org, so we can share them. You can post to social media, making sure you tag @MissouriNEA and use the hashtags  #MNEAheroes and  #MNEAprotects.
