MNEA members join STARR ranks
Each
year the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
selects a new STARR group (Select Teachers As Regional Resources)
from applicants across the state. Five Missouri NEA members
are serving as professional development resources for educators
in their regions, and eight MNEA members are STARRs in training.
STARR educators receive training on authentic instructional
techniques throughout the school year. They then spend the
next year on leave from their school districts to teach what
they’ve learned to other teachers in their areas.
For more information about STARR or to learn how you can apply
to be a STARR participant, contact Linda Dooling, director
of DESE’s professional development section, at (573)

For information about receiving free training through STARR,
