Would you like to write for Something
Better?
Something
Better is looking for beginning teachers to write columns
about their experiences in Missouri public schools.
We would like to run a regular column with alternating authors,
providing insight into what it’s like to be a beginning
teacher. The column will be by and for teachers in their first
five years. It will focus on successes and challenges with
students, joys and frustrations of the teaching profession,
classroom discoveries and surprises, rewards and disappointments,
survival tips, union involvement, and any other insights the
authors can provide about working in today’s classrooms.
Authors will receive $200 for articles published in Something
Better and $50 for articles published on the Web site
or in other MNEA publications.
We are also interested in featuring articles by experienced
teachers. Perhaps you have an innovative program that you
created to address your students’ needs. Tell Something
Better readers your story and how they might learn from
your experiences.
Please e-mail your resume, with writing samples, to: Debra
Angstead, MNEA communications director, at debra.angstead@mnea.org.
Or send your work to Debra Angstead, Missouri NEA, 1810 E.
Elm St., Jefferson City, MO 65109.
