Missouri NEA's award-winning magazine for members is published four times during the school year. The publication schedule for 2007-2008 is as follows:

MNEA members can expect to receive each issue within two weeks after the distribution date.

We need your help! To submit stories or leads for Something Better, or information about awards won by MNEA members for "Our People," contact Debra Angstead, editor.

To submit a change of address to ensure you receive every issue, complete a change of contact information form or contact your MNEA regional office.

In the Loop

The MNEA listserv is dedicated to communicating to all Missouri NEA members. In the Loop, MNEA’s award-winning electronic newsletter is sent monthly during the school year keeping members “in the loop” about upcoming conferences and events, news, member benefits and other association information.

Leaders' Update

MNEA's Leaders' Update comes direct from the MNEA President to local association presidents and vice presidents and certain other association leaders twice a month during the school year.  

The Leaders' Update contains important information about issues and deadlines that local association leaders need to know, as well as regular enclosures from MNEA's NEA Directors, MACCE representatives, etc.

Legislative Update

MNEA's Legislative Update is published weekly during the legislative session. It provides the latest information on action in the legislature on MNEA's legislative priorities and other bills of particular interest. It is mailed to local association presidents and vice presidents, Government Relations Teams and Congressional Contact Team members, and other interested individuals.

The Legislative Update can be e-mailed to you or accessed each week from this Web site.

NEA Publications for members

Every MNEA member automatically receives the NEA Today eight times a year--September to May.
This colorful award-winning publication contains news and features on education issues and NEA members from around the country.

Local association presidents and building representatives who are identified as such in the NEA membership system also receive a monthly newsletter from NEA called NEA Now. This publication includes brief items of interest to association leaders, and often includes a poster as well.

NEA also provides special publications for education support personnel members, higher education members, student members and retired members. Visit NEA.org or learn more.

Missouri NEA Local Newsletter Competition

MNEA recognizes the value of internal and external communication activities initiated by local associations. A newsletter is an excellent means of bringing the Association's message to members and the public. An effective newsletter speaks to the clear, established goals of the local association. This competition rewards excellent examples of newsletters from across the state.

In addition to the recognition given to winning newsletters, every local entering the competition is eligible for the drawing for a $150 grant to the following year's Leadership Conference communications training session.

Awards are presented annually at MNEA's leadership conference for: 1) Internal Newsletters (those published for local membership) and 2) Community Newsletters (published for community members on a regular basis).
