Volunteer to serve
on a Missouri NEA Committee
Missouri NEA is looking for local members interested
in serving on one of the standing committees of the Association
(listed below). Members who volunteer are committing to attend
three to four Saturday meetings (most of which are in Jefferson
City). Committee volunteers will be reimbursed travel expenses
(mileage paid at the IRS rate) as well as receive a meal during
each committee meeting. Download the form, print, complete,

appointments or form submission.
Bylaws & Rules Committee reviews and recommends
revisions to the Association’s Bylaws; presents recommendations
to the spring Representative Assembly. Reviews local bylaws
for compliance with NEA and MNEA affiliation standards.
Reviews standing rules, presents recommendations to the
Representative Assembly. Enforces MNEA candidate election
rules.
Credentials Committee certifies delegates at the
Representative Assembly and supervises the elections at
those meetings. Requires attendance at both Representative
Assembly meetings.
Human and Civil Rights Committee surveys and shares
information that will improve and protect the rights of
school populations; works to develop action-oriented Human
Relations Committees in local affiliates.
Coordinates programs and activities to attract and increase
minority involvement in the Association within all minority
categories: American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian and Pacific
Islander, Black and Hispanic.
Provides training and workshops in gender equity and women’s
leadership skills. Is responsible for collecting and disseminating
information in the areas of women’s health and well-being.
Promotes an awareness of women in history.
Monitors the HOPE (Humanitarian Outreach for Public Education)
Fund.
Summer Academy Conference HostCommittee
assists with the planning of Missouri NEA's Summer Conference.
The committee also assists with registration and logistics
during the conference, thus attendance at the Summer Academy
is a requirement.
Legislative Committee researches,
outlines and presents a legislative platform to the November
meeting of the Representative Assembly.
Membership Advisory Committee reviews
membership trends in the state and makes recommendations
regarding membership strategies for local recruitment and
retention success.
Member Benefits Committee reviews and considers personal
financial services such as insurance programs or savings and
loan programs which seek Association endorsement; serves as
a hearing board for complaints regarding sponsored programs,
and makes recommendations on how to increase member awareness
of these benefits and all the discounts offered through Educator
Access. .
Public Relations Committee works to establish effective
public relations committees in local affiliates. The Committee
will assist locals in networking public relations ideas
and enhancing the image of the Association and education
employees.
Resolutions Committee reviews and recommends revisions
to the Association's Resolutions; presents recommendations
to the spring Representative Assembly.
Teaching & LearningCommittee
designs and coordinates programs to address current instructional
and professional development issues.
