MNEA launches positive message
in statewide ad campaign
Missouri NEA's advertising campaign, touting "Public
Schools: A Great Return on Your Investment," launches
this fall and again in the spring of 2008, thanks to an NEA
Public Relations Assistance Grant. The positive public school
ad campaign will use a cross section of media including print,
radio spots and Web components. The theme of the campaign
is emphasizes the positive impact of public schools on the
Missouri economy through student success.
Print ads with images of students as successful adults and
the words "Public Schools: A Great Return on Your Investment"
will appear in the Kansas City Star, St. Louis Post Dispatch,
Missouri Life Magazine and the Rural Missouri Electric Cooperative
Magazine. These ads have the potential of being viewed 26,968,000
times by metropolitan, suburban and rural Missourians who
read these diverse publications.
Missourians will hear 60-second radio spots at home, at work
and in their cars on 61 stations statewide for three weeks
in the spring and another three weeks in the fall. The radio
ads are estimated to be heard nearly five million times. The
Missourinet, a statewide radio news network, will feature
a banner for MNEA’s campaign on its Web site with a
link to the MNEA Web site, where Web site visitors will be
able to listen to the radio spots.
In addition to the external campaign, MNEA shared radio ads
with participants at the Summer Academy and will share them
with Fall Conference participants in November. A colorful
pull-out poster featuring the campaign message is featured
in the Fall 2007 issue of Something Better. Be sure to post
it in your school building.
