Jack Kinnaman Scholarship
The Jack Kinnaman Scholarship was created in
the memory of Jack Kinnaman, Vice President and former
Advisory Council member of the NEA-Retired. In addition,
Jack represented the NEA-Retired on the Fund for Children
and Public Education and in numerous local, state and
national Association positions, Active and Retired.
He is most fondly remembered as NEA's "Cat in the
Hat".
Applicants must meet the following three criteria:

Be an active participant in the NEA Student Program
on the local, state and/or national level.

Be able to demonstrate financial need.

Carry a 2.5 or better grade point average.
Submit an application with
two (2) letters of recommendation, one from the faculty
advisor of the NEA Student chapter, and one from a non-family
member to the NEA-Retired Office by April 15.

DESE
Offers Tuition Reimbursement
Professional development funds from the Missouri
Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE)
will be available at participating colleges and universities
to promote the certification of special education teachers
in areas of critical need.
Tuition reimbursement will be available for qualified
individuals pursuing certification in: 1) mild/moderate,
cross-categorical, 2) hearing impaired, 3) severe developmental
disabilities, and 4) visually impaired. Universities
and colleges with approved teacher-certification programs
in the above areas have been offered an opportunity
to contract with DESE for this tuition reimbursement
program. The following universities offer these certification
programs:
