Award |
One $500 scholarship.

Eligibility |
The Missouri NEA Student Scholarship Committee
will consider NEA student members who attend a Missouri
college or university on a full-time basis. Applicants
must be entering their freshmen, sophomore or junior
year and have at least a 3.00 grade-point average.

Application |
Applicants must submit the following:

A completed Cochran Scholarship application
form. (pdf format)

Two recommendations. One recommendation must
come from a teacher and the other must come from
a non-teacher who is not a relative.

A well-developed essay that answers the question,
" Why do you think you deserve to be awarded
the Cochran Scholarship?"

Screening |
A screening committee will review the applications
and select the applicants who will advance to the
interview stage.

Interview |
Students advancing to the interview stage will
be notified of the time, date and place for this part
of the application process.
|
Selection |
The student awarded the scholarship will be selected
by the scholarship committee based on academic ability,
recommendations, essay, interview, activities and
need.

Award |
The recipient of the scholarship will be notified
prior to the awards date and the check will be made
payable to the college or university.
|
Runner-up |
A first and second place runner-up will be selected
for the scholarship. If the recipient does not proceed
with his/her educational plans as stated in the application
for any reason, he/she will forfeit the scholarship
to the first runner-up.

Deadline |
All three parts of the completed application must
be returned by
March 5, 2008. No
