Governor signs modifications
to Missouri IDEA statute
On May 28, Governor Holden signed a law bringing Missouri special
education services in line with the federal Individuals with Disabilities
Education Act (IDEA) standard. Last December, a Missouri Court of
Appeals ruled in Lagares v. Camdenton that Missouri law required
a higher standard of services than the IDEA. As a result of Governor
Holden signing the new law, the Missouri standard is now the same
as the federal.
