Do you find that your old forms of discipline
are no longer successful with increasing numbers of difficult
students? This hands-on session will provide techniques
you can use in your classroom with students who demonstrate
behavior problems. BIST created the confrontational model
in helping students to be successful in school. Our common

Stop the Three-Ring Circus
Presented by Jones Loflin
Sign-in (8:30-9 a.m.), Session
(9 a.m.-3:30 p.m.), lunch included
Today, we face classrooms filled with children from around
the globe, and we must hold the same high expectations
for every student. In this interactive session, you’ll
learn to stop trying to “juggle elephants.”
Be the ringmaster and work with the performers. Once in
a while, learn to take an intermission. Plan for the next
performance and create a standing ovation for yourself.
Come prepared to learn and do! For more information about
this session visit, www.jugglingelephants.com/products/DVD.asp.

This workshop focuses on classroom management—especially

NEA partners with Maryville University, so this session
also qualifies as the Beginning Teacher Assistance Program
for teacher certification upgrade or renewal. Activities
in this workshop focus on how to have a smoothly flowing
classroom, use effective rules/routines/re-enforcements,
deal with difficult behavior, use transitions and sponges,
build a classroom community and improve home/school communication.
Note: This workshop is
also offered Friday, Nov. 6. Registration
is $35 for members and $50 for non-members. (register
