Friday, Nov. 7 will include two in-depth all-day pre-conference sessions that require pre-registration (see below). *

Saturday, Nov. 8 is free to the public and will include workshops, exhibits and a keynote address entitled “Rachel's Challenge.”

For hotel arrangements, contact the hotel directly at (417) 864-7333 and mention you are with the Missouri NEA Conference. To receive the MNEA rate ($89: single, double, triple, quad), you must reserve a room by Oct. 14. The MNEA room rate is good for up to four nights Wed., Nov 5 - Sat., Nov. 8.

*The MNEA Representative Assembly will also be held on Friday; thus, RA delegates will not be able to attend both the pre-conference and RA.

Registration
Advance registration is required for the Friday pre-conference sessions only. The registration fee includes lunch. Refunds will not be given for cancellations made after Oct. 31. For more information, call the Teaching & Learning Secretary at (800) 392-0236.

Differentiated Instruction: Meeting the Instructional Needs of Diverse Classrooms
Presented by the NEA Training Cadre
Sign-in (8-9 a.m.), Session (9 a.m.-3:30 p.m.), lunch included
The growing diversity in classrooms makes it difficult to reach students at varying skill levels. This presentation defines differentiated instruction and explores a few key strategies for differentiating instruction so that all students can be engaged in learning.
Participants are encouraged to share this information with staff in their district. Registration is $60 for members and $80 for non-members. Save $20 if you register by Oct. 17. (register now)

“I Can Do It” a Classroom Management Program
Presented by Mary Kim Schreck
Sign-in (8-9 a.m.), Session (9 a.m.-3:30 p.m.), lunch included
This workshop focuses on classroom management—especially for teachers in their first five years of teaching. Missouri NEA partners with Maryville University—so this session also qualifies as the Beginning Teacher Assistance Program for teacher certification upgrade or renewal. Activities in this workshop focus on how to have a smoothly flowing classroom, use effective rules/routines/re-enforcements, deal with difficult behavior, use transitions and sponges, build a classroom community and improve home/school communication.
Registration is $35 for members and $50 for non-members. (register now)

General Session: Rachel's Challenge


Rachel Scott was the first victim of the Columbine High School tragedy in 1999. Since that fatal day, Rachel's incredible story has been told to more than 10 million people in venues around the world. This keynote message contains five powerful challenges taken from Rachel Scott's life. These challenges are being implemented in secondary schools across the country. Heart-rending, humorous, thought-provoking and entertaining, every listener will walk away from this presentation a changed person.
