Nominate a teacher for the KCTV5 Read to Achieve contest

Recipients will receive $1,000 and a visit from KCTV's news anchor Gina Bullard 

If your school falls within the KCTV5 viewing area in the greater Kansas City area, teachers at your school are eligible for a chance to win $1,000 and a visit from KCTV's news anchor Gina Bullard. The Read to Achieve contest is co-sponsored by Missouri NEA and Kansas NEA.

Twelve lucky teaches will win during the 2017-2018 school year. There are two ways to enter.

  1. You can nominate a teacher by completing the form on the KCTV5 website at http://www.kctv5.com/category/318863/read-to-achieve
  2. Or, by mail. Send your contact information, including phone number and the name of the nominated teacher. Please include the name of the school, full address of the school and reason you wish to nominate the teacher. Mail entry to KCTV5, ATTN: Read to Achieve, 4500 Shawnee Mission Parkway Fairway, KS 66205. 

Nominations accepted Aug. 17, 2017 - March 31, 2018.

Share your story

Even though we are not at school supporting Missouri students, members continue to help every day during this crisis. MNEA wants to share your stories as we struggle through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

We are hearing about members who are continuing to care for their students by

  • volunteering at school district Grab & Go meal distribution centers and food drives
  • providing child care for essential medical staff
  • shopping for the elderly so they don’t have to leave the safety of their homes

Your stories help show that educators don’t stop caring. Please send your stories with pictures to MNEA at coronavirus@mnea.org, so we can share them. You can post to social media, making sure you tag @MissouriNEA and use the hashtags  #MNEAheroes and  #MNEAprotects.
