ACTION ALERT: HOUSE EXPECTED TO VOTE ON "RIGHT-TO-WORK" AND PAYCHECK DECEPTION BILL

The Senate is poised to take the rare step of forcing an end to debate on a controversial bill that would affects the constitutional bargaining rights of all Missourians.

HCS/HBs 116 & 569 (Burlison) contains the so-called "Right-to-Work" proposal and amendments are pending to add the Paycheck Deception proposal. Once the Senate forces a vote, the House is likely to quickly take the bill up later today.

The "Right-to-Work" provision applies to all employees and would remove the ability of labor unions to receive compensation for the costs of fulfilling their duties as exclusive representative.

Paycheck Deception would apply to most public labor organizations and require annual authorization for payroll deduction of member contributions for dues and for political action.

PLEASE CALL, WRITE OR USE THE LINK BELOW TO SEND AN E-MAIL TO URGE YOUR STATE REPRESENTATIVE TO OPPOSE HCS/HBS 116 AND 569.

The Association opposes HCS/HBs 116 and 569. All employees have the constitutional right to participate in the Association and work together to support political campaigns without undue interference from state policies that would undermine those rights.
